Former RHS coach Wilson takes over at South Lenoir

May 6, 2008 12:41 am

Former Richlands High football coach Kevin Wilson will be making a return to the East Central Conference.

Wilson was officially named the new South Lenoir head football coach on Monday, it was reported by the Kinston Free Press. The Lenoir County Board of Education approved Wilson's hiring at its meeting in Kinston.

Wilson led the Wildcats for seven years before resigning in April 2005. He posted a 47-37 record during his stint and was voted ECC Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2001, and was named the N.C. Prep Football News 2-A State Coach of the Year in '01 when he guided the Wildcats to an 11-2 record and a share of the league title. The 11 wins that year still stand as a school record.

Wilson has been an assistant football coach at East Duplin for the past three seasons.
